The Metroplex doesn’t need another church. The Metroplex needs another kind of church.
The Metroplex needs a kind of church where people are comfortable bringing their friends, their family, and their neighbors.
A church where people can come and hear the life-changing truth that God cares for them and that Jesus Christ died for their sin.
A church where they can hear Biblical truth in a way that makes sense, be challenged to live it out, and be given opportunities to do exactly that. In their communities. In their cities. In the world.
A church where people love. Love God more than anything and Love others the way God does.
A church where community matters and everyone belongs‚ no matter who you are, or what you’ve done.
A church committed to meeting the needs of DFW and beyond in heroic ways no matter what the cost.
A church that celebrates diversity and doesn’t ask you to check your identity at the door.
A church where people are bold, daring, risk-taking, unafraid, heroic, and adventurous.
A church that doesn’t believe worship only happens on Sunday. Where it’s a way of life, a way we live.
A church that exists to connect ordinary people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ that results in a life lived courageously for Him.
We’ve come together to create that church. Welcome to Waves.
A letter to DFW
Dear DFW Metroplex (or anyone for that matter)-
It’s ok. We have issues too.
We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, gay, filthy rich, dirt poor, yo no habla Ingles. We extend a special welcome to those who have crying new-borns, are skinny as a rail or could afford to lose a few pounds.
We welcome you if you can sing and dance like Justin Bieber or are like most of our pastors who can’t carry a note in a bucket. You’re welcome here if you’re “just browsing,” just woke up, or just got out of jail. We don’t care if you’re more Christian than Billy Graham, or haven’t been in church since last Christmas, or the one before that. We don’t even care if you like to eat at Chick-Fil-A.
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome soccer moms, NASCAR dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters, democrats, republicans, everything in between, agnostics, atheists, and the religious. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you’re having problems or you’re down in the dumps or if you don’t like “organized religion,” because we’ve been there too.
If you blew all your offering money playing poker, you’re welcome here. We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don’t work, caint spell, or because grandma is in town and wanted to go to church.
We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down your throat as a kid or got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding hearts, anyone who needs grace, those that think they do not need grace, the grace killers, anyone who’s not ok and those that are not ok with not being ok … and you!
Welcome to Waves of Faith- A Radical Grace Community
